Travel Tips for cGvHD 2024 Symposium Attendees
As you prepare to attend cGvHD 2024 this October in Vancouver, here are some helpful tips to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

GETTING TO VANCOUVER
By Air
Fly to Vancouver International Airport (YVR), the primary airport serving the city. It is located on Sea Island, in Richmond, BC. Upon arrival, you can reach downtown Vancouver by:
Ground Transportation Options:
RECOMMENDED:
- ‘Canada Line’ SkyTrain (30 min travel, $9.55 for 2-Zone fare, incl $5 YVR AddFare) from the airport. For more information, check the link here.
- Access at the airport is above ground, near the parking garage
- Ride train to ‘Vancouver City Centre’ station (underground station)
- Walk 10min to venue hotel
Note: for the way back on SkyTrain (cost for 2-Zone fare $4.55 (no AddFare)):
The Canada Line operates two routes from Downtown:
1) to YVR–Airport Station (Richmond)- RECOMMENDED
2) to Richmond–Brighouse Station (Richmond) – Use Bridgeport Station to transfer to the YVR–Airport-bound train
OTHER OPTIONS:
- Uber/Taxi to venue (25 min travel, ~$36)
- Car Rental (Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Thrifty)
PRACTICAL TIPS
Weather: October in Vancouver is typically mild but can be rainy. Pack an umbrella to stay dry during your visit.
Currency: The local currency is the Canadian Dollar (CAD). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, but it’s a good idea to have some cash on hand for small purchases.
Health and Safety: Vancouver is a safe city, but it’s always wise to take standard precautions. Stay aware of your surroundings, especially at night, and keep your belongings secure.
Connectivity: Free Wi-Fi is available in many public places, including cafes, libraries, and shopping centers.
